Absolutely! We appreciate your willingness to help!
How often do I have to foster or borrow a buddy?
There is no requirement for how often you must foster. Simply take on the cases that work best with your lifestyle. Even if you only foster or borrow a buddy once a year, you will be making a lifesaving impact!
What do I need to provide for my foster animal?
We ask our foster volunteers to provide their foster animals with a safe and quiet space (separated from personal pets for at least 7 days), lots of love, appropriate exercise, and socialization.
What will Hurst Animal Services provide for foster animals?
We supply food, litter, disposable litter boxes, veterinary care, and a kennel or crate (as supplies allow).
What type of animals need foster homes?
Animals in need of foster homes are typically orphaned puppies or kittens, moms with litters of babies, and animals that are injured, sick, or scared. The length of time required for each foster case varies, but on average it lasts from 2 to 4 weeks.

Fostering can save lives! Plus, you get all of the benefits of having a pet in your home without the long term commitment.
What is borrowing a buddy?
Our Borrow A Buddy program offers a short-term (usually less than a week) vacation for dogs who need a break from shelter life, because they are becoming over-stimulated, too stressed, or have become depressed.
What is fostering?
Fostering is providing temporary care and housing for an animal (or animals) that need a little extra time or TLC to prepare for Hurst Animal Services adoption program.
