The City of Hurst may make available the Hurst Athletic Complex for private softball tournaments provided that the tournament sponsor/renter adheres to all guidelines, rules and regulation set herein.
The Hurst Athletic Complex may be reserved for non-City sponsored softball tournament play. A minimum of two (2) months notice must be given prior to the requested date. All requests must be made in writing to the Recreation Division.
Tournaments may be played only on Saturdays and Sundays. Fridays may also be available based on league play schedule. Game times may start no earlier than 8:00 a.m. and end no later than 11:00 p.m.
Tournaments must be sponsored by corporate or non-profit organizations. Tournaments by individual teams will not be permitted.
Organizations seeking approval to host a softball tournament must provide the City with a certificate of insurance for liability (Public Liability Insurance: $1,000,000 Personal & Bodily Injury, $250,000 Property Damage), naming the City of Hurst as additionally insured. This must be received by the City at least two (2) weeks prior to the tournament.
Two (2) umpires and one (1) scorekeeper will be provided by the Hurst Umpires Association (H.U.A.) for each tournament game. The tournament sponsor/renter shall be responsible for payment in full to the H.U.A. for these officials immediately following the final tournament game. Rate of pay for officials shall be the current City of Hurst rate plus a $3.00 per game scheduling fee or $125 flat fee, whichever is greater.
All concessions will are be operated by the concessionaire who holds the annual contract awarded by the City of Hurst, however, the tournament sponsor/renter is responsible for making arrangements directly with the concessionaire. The concessionaire operates independent of the City of Hurst.
Fees and Charges: The City of Hurst has established athletic field maintenance fees to help offset the cost of maintaining the fields. The tournament sponsor is required to pay the current fee as set by the City Council.
The current fees are as follows:
Friday (based on availability) $100.00
Saturday & Sunday $400.00
All fees must be paid to the City two (2) weeks prior to the start of the tournament.
The City will provide field maintenance, which includes lining, bases, and dragging the fields. Lights, when needed, will also be provided by the City.
Standard park policies will apply to all private tournaments:
A. No glass containers allowed (includes parking lot area).
B. No motorized vehicles allowed inside complex area.
C. No pets allowed, unless certified service animals.
D. Litter must be deposited in trash receptacles.
E. No in-line skates, skateboards, roller skates, or bicycles allowed.
F. No grills may be used inside the Softball Facility.
League games sponsored by the City have priority in the event make-up games are required.
Tournament sponsor must submit a final tournament bracket to the City by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the tournament.
Tournament sponsor shall be responsible for picking up all trash and placing it in the
appropriate trash receptacles.
The City of Hurst will make the final determination on incidents involving inclement weather. This may include delaying games, rescheduling or event cancellation.
Games will be played in accordance with the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) rules and the current City of Hurst Adult Softball Program By-Laws, unless otherwise agreed upon by the Tournament Sponsor/Renter and the City of Hurst.
