Special Needs Program - The Hurst Police Department has provided officers with training to raise awareness of special needs issues relating to mental health, emotional disturbances and other disabilities for which law enforcement should utilize alternative tactics and response.

Hurst Intervention Team (H.I.T.) - H.I.T. team includes police, code enforcement, mental health professionals, fire/EMS, and others who work as a team to ensure rapid, forward progress and long lasting improvements to solve neighborhood and community problems.  H.I.T. initiates efforts at homes to resolve issues that, if left unchecked, would have likely resulted in condemnation and costly demolition.
