Soft Room
In an effort to help victims feel comfortable while being interviewed by officers and detectives, a regular interview room was transformed into a soft room for victims to feel safe to tell us what happened to them. The soft room is designed on the Trauma Informed Theory where changing the environment of a room will help the body respond in a calmer way. The soft room provides soft lighting, swivel chairs, and an essential oils diffuser. There is also water bottles that are provided to the victims and their families, and the idea is for them to drink the water but allows their body to breathe as well. All these things that are provided in the soft room is to supplement the body’s response to trauma, and victims and their families are able to handle trauma in the most positive way possible.
All the furniture was provided by Project Beloved, founded by Tracey Mattheson, who has founded this organization after the brutal death of her daughter, Molly Jane Mattheson. The pictures that are hung on the walls are taken from another victim who had also died at the hands of the same person who killed Molly Jane Mattheson.
