After graduating from the HCPA (Hurst Citizen Police Academy), alumni are eligible and encouraged to join the HCPAAA (Hurst Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association). The Police Academy presents students with detailed information about the operations of the Police Department and prepares them to be ambassadors to their family, friends and neighbors. The Police Academy classes are 3 hours per night, once per week for 12 weeks.

The HCPAAA supports the Hurst Police Department by assisting at City sponsored events such as Stars and Stripes, National Night Out and Christmas Tree lighting.

The HCPAAA also provides greeting cards for employees’ birthdays and anniversaries, adopts needy families in the community at Christmas, and provides dinner and snacks for the Police Department employees who cannot be with their families during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

The HCPA is also a prerequisite for anyone that might be interested in joining the COP (Citizens On Patrol) program.

The HCPAAA meets the third Thursday of each month at the Hurst Justice Center located at 825 Thousand Oaks Drive. Meetings are in the third floor meeting room at 7PM.
