Citizens on Patrol
The Hurst Police Department Citizens on Patrol Program (COP) assist the police department in numerous ways. Graduates of the CPA (Citizens Police Academy) complete additional training to join. The group is a high-visibility, non-confrontational volunteer group, which has been formed to help reduce and prevent crime, assist patrol in handicapped parking enforcement, and non-law enforcement activities, as well as maintain a constant visible presence in the City of Hurst. Members patrol the city in marked COP vehicles, while also watching for suspicious activities and other “quality of life” issues. Members donate their valuable time and efforts in support of community and civic activities, including the annual Stars & Stripes celebration, the annual Christmas Tree Lighting event, National Night Out and other city and community activities.
