The mission of the Hurst Police Department is to provide exceptional service to its citizens and employees through a problem-solving approach, emphasizing a commitment to Excellence Through Teamwork.

The Hurst Police Department is an internationally accredited law enforcement agency, providing 24-hour response to the needs of the community. The two divisions within the Department, Support Services and Operational Services, provide numerous specialized public safety services to the citizens of Hurst. The Department is a diverse community-based agency offering modern, professional, and courteous service to the citizens of Hurst and the Northeast Tarrant County area.

Image of Hurst Police Department 1970sThe City of Hurst was named after William Letchworth “Uncle Billy” Hurst in 1909. The Hurst Police Department (PD) is a nationally accredited law enforcement agency that was established in the 1950’s.  It is a fully functioning PD providing law enforcement services to the citizens, businesses, and visitors.  The PD has a total of 73 sworn officers serving in varying functions.  These functions include Patrol, Traffic, Criminal Investigations  and Community Services. The officers serve in varying capacities, such as responding to and self-generating calls for service, conducting traffic stops, executing arrests, and conducting Commercial Motor Vehicle inspections.  Additionally, the Hurst PD serves the community through several different programs aimed at improving the quality of life within the city.

Since the incorporation of the City of Hurst, in the 1950’s, the Police Department has been a steadily growing and full service department led by only seven distinguished and respected Chiefs of Police.
