How it Works:

Whether readers are digging into a good book, uncovering hidden histories, or exploring the past, HEB Reads! underscores the joy of discovery that reading brings. Every community has stories waiting to be found and shared—through books, programs, and local knowledge. Dig Up a Story to spark curiosity, imagination, and learning!

Download the Beanstack app and register the whole family beginning May 16. The more you read, the more prizes you earn! Log your reading time through July 31. Special weekly programs and prize distribution start the first week of June. Prizes aren’t just for kids - we have fantastic incentives for adults, too!

HEB Reads! Summer Kick-off at Pennington Field
Saturday, May 16, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Pennington Field

Grab your explorer gear and get ready to Dig Up a Story! 🦕
Join us as we kick off the HEB Reads! Summer Reading Challenge with a celebration full of dinosaurs, discoveries, and ancient adventures. Enjoy free books, games, entertainment, and hands-on activities for all ages as we launch a summer of reading and exploration.

Summer Reading Challenge Opening Party featuring Inspiration Band
Thursday, May 28, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hurst Public Library Park

Dig Up a Story this summer with free sno-cones, lawn games, and dinosaur-themed crafts from 6–7 p.m. in the Library Park. At 7 p.m., the Inspiration Band will play a variety of Top 40 hits from the past and present to get everyone moving and grooving. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets! In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in Library Program Rooms North and South.

The Hurst Public Library and ArtsNET are proud to partner to bring you this year's MasterWorks Concert Series.

Stop by the Library at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for story times and early literacy programs!
