Hurst Library Teen Zone

YA Services at Hurst Public Library is dedicated to serving teens in middle, junior, and high schools in the community with their particular need for information, reading materials (leisure or academic), and recreational and cultural programs that meet their interests.

The Teen Zone

is a space for teens & young adults in grades 6-12.

  • holds the library's Young Adult (YA) Collection, including the Texas TAYSHAS Reading List, fiction books in print and audio formats, graphic novels, and non-fiction.
  • This separate space is specifically designed for teens, their social needs and unique characteristics.
  • There are computers with Internet access, and tables large enough for group study. Study rooms are also available in the main Library.
  • PS5 and X-Box on the Big Screen! A collection of couch-coop-friendly games is available for card-holding teens to play on Teen Zone TV (see lists below).
  • The Teen Zone and any activities and programs that take place in it are designed exclusively for this age group. Any age patron may browse books in the Teen Zone, but must leave after selecting books.

Teen Innovation Panel (TIP)

Teen Innovation Panel
Teens ages 14-18 can earn volunteer hours for school by applying to join the Teen Innovation Panel.  Help plan and run teen programs, contribute ideas for the Library's collection, and make the Library more teen-friendly. You can become a TIP Volunteer through the City of Hurst Volunteers In Action (VIA) program. Apply online! TIP Meetings are on the first Thursday of each month.

Teen Volunteer Opportunities:

Teens who have completed the online volunteer application can sign up for volunteer opportunities. You will need a TIP access code to sign up for volunteer spots.

Teen Zone Programming (for grades 6-12)

The Teen Innovation Panel (TIP) and our Teen Librarian meet monthly to plan programs that provide teens with information they want and need, and programs that encourage socialization while having fun in the process.

Whether it's exploring STEAM topics, getting creative with crafting, or hanging with friends to play games and watch a movie, we have the perfect activity for you! Check the Library's Calendar of Events.
