The City of Hurst has witnessed significant economic growth in the first quarter of 2024, marked by 3,130,000 visitors making 17,344,000 visits to Hurst businesses. The opening of several new businesses contributed to the city's thriving commercial landscape. Among these establishments were Hotworx, James Provisions, Buffalo Wild Wings, and many other businesses including accounting, homebuilding and medical services, each bringing unique offerings and contributing to the diversity of the local economy.

In addition to these new ventures, the City of Hurst has embarked on a strategic partnership with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) to conduct an extensive economic development study focused on Highway 10, spanning between the two TRE Stations. This collaborative effort aims to assess various critical aspects of economic growth and infrastructure development in the region.

The economic development study encompasses a range of key areas, including transportation analysis, economic and market evaluations, and land use assessments. Specifically, the study will evaluate trail connections to key locations such as the Northeast Mall and Cotton Belt Trail, addressing crucial connectivity and accessibility factors.

Furthermore, the study will delve into floodplain and storm drainage issues, highlighting the city's commitment to sustainable development practices. Industrial brownfield abatement measures will also be explored, emphasizing Hurst's dedication to revitalizing and repurposing underutilized industrial areas.

The economic development study, scheduled to commence in October, signifies a proactive approach by the City of Hurst and NCTCOG towards fostering a vibrant and resilient economic ecosystem that benefits residents, businesses, and stakeholders alike.
