Trasa Cobern was elected to Hurst City Council Place 7 on November 5, 2024. She had previously served from 2016-2018 as Hurst City Council Place 4.

While not a native Texan, she got here as quick as she could! She came at age 17 for a full academic scholarship to Texas A&M University, where she earned a B.A. in Political Science, cum laude. She married Kyle, a graduate of L.D. Bell High School, in 1996 and they have four adult sons, three who graduated from L.D. Bell as well.

Trasa stayed home with her children for twelve years, and then became an award-winning US History teacher. She is most proud of the Outstanding Teacher of the US Constitution award from Constituting America in 2019. Trasa is also a published author in the Dallas Morning News and Fox News Online, for Medal of Honor stories.

In 2021, she left teaching to work for the wonderful local nonprofit 6 Stones Mission Network, where she is the Chief Development Officer.

She is very community minded, with involvement including:

  • Board member, Mid Cities Women’s Clinic, 2020-present
  • Board member, Dallas Area Chapter of Founding Forward, 2021-present
  • Colleyville Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, 2023-present
