Clear the Shelters: FREE Pet Adoptions August 19-29

Post Date:08/03/2026 10:01 a.m.

This August, The Hurst Animal Services and Adoption Center is participating in NBCUniversal Local’s “Clear the Shelters” national campaign! This initiative is dedicated to finding loving, permanent homes for animals in need. Since 2015, Clear the Shelters has helped 1 million pets find their new homes.

From August 19-29, the Hurst Animal Services & Adoption Center is waiving all adoption fees to make it even easier to welcome a new furry family member. Adoptions include spaying/neutering, up-to-date vaccinations, microchipping, monthly tick preventative, and heartworm/FELV/FIV testing. Every adoption not only gives an animal a second chance but also opens space in the shelter to rescue and care for more animals in need. View our list of adoptable animals here.

Donations play a vital role in helping us provide essential medical care, food, and a safe, comfortable environment for these animals as they wait for their forever homes. By adopting and donating, you are helping us create a better future for every animal in our care.

We accept donations like:

  • High Efficiency liquid
  • Bleach
  • Liquid dish soap
  • Dry/wet dog and cat food
  • Unscented cat litter
  • Cat and dog collars
  • Cat and dog toys
  • Kongs
  • Cat and dog treats
  • New and lightly used blankets
  • Pet beds
  • You can view our Amazon wish list here.

You can donate money to the Hurst Animal Services & Adoption Center through debit/credit card or PayPal here.

All donations are tax deductible!

The Hurst Animal Services & Adoption Center is open for adoptions Monday – Friday from 1-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 12-4 p.m. Please note the Adoption Center will remain closed on Sunday, August 23. Thank you for helping us give every pet a loving home they deserve.
