Hurstview Pedestrian Bridge Closure

Post Date:12/19/2025 2:12 p.m.

Beginning January 5, 2026, the Hurstview Pedestrian Bridge will close for North Tarrant Express (NTE) construction and will remain closed for approximately eight months. The closure of the bridge is necessary to support NTE’s construction to widen the express lanes. As part of this work, NTE will relocate an existing column, add a new column, and shorten the span of the pedestrian bridge.

To keep the public safe, gates will be installed to prevent access to the construction area. One gate will be placed at the next available column, and another will be installed at the bridge entrance, for a total of two gates.

HEB ISD has created a community bus stop to transport students around the impacted area and support Shady Oaks Elementary students affected by this closure. Information has been distributed to the parents of students to explain the process and share contact information for any questions or concerns about busing during the bridge closure.

For questions about this closure, please call 817-788-7080.
