Post Date:12/10/2025 9:29 a.m.

Billy Keadle was recently appointed as City of Hurst Police Chief and confirmed by the City Council during the December 9, 2025, city council meeting. Chief Keadle has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience, including 24 years with the Hurst Police Department. He has served in numerous assignments, including patrol, SWAT, traffic, criminal investigations, and training. He is a graduate of the School of Police Supervision, Leadership Command College, and the FBI National Academy. He also earned a Master of Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University. Keadle has successfully served as assistant police chief since 2018 and as acting police chief following Chief Steve Niekamp’s sudden passing.

“Chief Keadle has a strong understanding of the expectations surrounding the City’s financial and strategic planning processes,” City Manager Clay Caruthers said. “He also shares my vision for customer service excellence, and he’s excited about the opportunity to serve and lead his team. I am confident that under Chief Keadle’s leadership, the Hurst Police Department will continue to build upon the strong foundation laid by every active and retired member of our police department.”

We look forward to Chief Keadle stepping into this role and wish him great success. There will be an opportunity to connect with him at our annual Town Hall Forum on February 19.
