What you Need:
Hurst Public Library cards are free of charge to all residents of the state of Texas (temporary Internet Cards are available for out-of-state residents, but provide Internet access privileges only). To register for a card, fill out an application in person at the library and provide valid identification and proof of residence (application data must match identification and residence information). Registrants under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian signature.
Apply for your Hurst Library Card:
Next time you're at the Library, visit the Patron Services Desk to fill out an application. Once your identification and residence information have been verified by library staff, you will be given two copies of your Hurst Library Card: one wallet-sized card, and one that you can put on a key ring.* Library staff will also briefly explain the conditions of your first day as a Hurst Library card-holder, and give you a handout that walks you through accessing your Hurst Library account online. That handout will also include your PIN #, which you will need to access your account.
*Out-of-State residents will receive an Internet-only Card, which is meant to offer only temporary access to the Library Computer Center and Copy Center, and does not include a key-chain copy.
Get a Card for your Child:
Everyone in the family can have their own Hurst Library Card, but those under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian signature on their application. The Youth Card application also includes some additional options for parents, including whether to allow children to access the Internet.
For Out-of-State Residents:
Out-of-State residents can apply for temporary Guest Cards only, which provide them access to the use of the Internet PCs in the Computer Center, and the printers in the Copy Center.
Your First Day as a Hurst Library Cardholder:
New Library Card applicants can check out only three items on their first day as Hurst Library cardholders. Once you return the items you checked out on that first day, this restriction will be lifted. See the Library Card User's Guide for more information about check-out limits and other borrowers policies.
